This most distinctive memorial, for persons who have died from HIV infection and AIDS-related illnesses in Bermuda, was started in the mid-80's. A family member, friend, or co-worker of the deceased, who wish to remember their loved one in this unique way, has created each of the panels. Then the panels are submitted to one of the local AIDS Service Organizations listed below so they can be incorporated in the Bermuda AIDS Quilt, as a permanent memorial to a loved one who has died of HIV infection or AIDS.

Anyone may submit a panel, but please be advised that the size of each panel should be 12" x 12", with an additional one-inch border that allows us to attach it to the main quilt. You may use any type of cloth that you desire to create your Memorial Panel, as long as it fits within the guidelines mentioned above.

You may choose to include a poem, a scripture verse, or words from a favourite song; or you may just put the name and dates of birth & death of your loved one; or you may paint or airbrush a photo; or you may choose embroidery or cross-stitching - just be as creative as you like.
