The Department of Health & Family Services provide the community with services related to sexual health and take these responsibilities seriously. Consult your personal healthcare provider for particular issues or referrals. 

  

SERVICES PROVIDED

1. PREVENTIVE SERVICES:

Pre/Post test counselling for HIV infection

Education for persons with AIDS (PLWHA's)

Psycho-social counselling & support for patients and families re:

  • Multiple losses

  • Emotional Preparation for death

  • Grieving process (individual, partner, family, friends)

2. INTERVENTION SERVICES:

Assessment for:

  • Coping Abilities

  • Social Situation

  • Disclosure Issues

  • Psycho-social problems

3. TREATMENT SERVICES :

Elements of care:

  • Primary care.

  • Medication education.

  • Nutrition assessment/education.

  • Patient/family education.

  • Psycho-social assessment/therapeutic interventions.

  • Care coordination.

  • Offer resources.

  • Financial/Benefits assessment referral.

  • Legal issues.

Hours of Operation: Mon - Thu - 8:30 am to 4:45 pm
 
Walk-In Clinic Appointments
can be made Monday through Thursdays ONLY
(11:30 am and 12:00 pm)
 
Testing is only done Monday through Thursday
HIV TESTING is Confidential but NOT Anonymous
Clients wishing to have HIV testing are encouraged to consider a complete check-up for STD's.
This includes screening for:
  • Gonorrhoea

  • Chlamydia

  • N.G.U. (Non-Gonoccocal Urethritis)

In addition, female clients are screened for:
  • Bacterial Vaginosis

  • Monilia (yeast)

  • Trichomonias

 

Test Results may be obtained within two days or one week.
